A police officer from Regional Police Division #1 has been placed under close arrest following the emergence of a video on Facebook that shows the off-duty rank indiscriminately discharging a firearm.
In an official release, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
According to the GPF, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The rank featured in the video has been taken into custody, with the Office of Professional Responsibility directed to initiate an immediate and thorough investigation.
