Update : Two Dead, Four Injured in Airy Hall, Mahaicony Crash

NCN Reoports : Two people died and four others were injured in a crash at Airy Hall, Mahaicony, Region Five, this evening. One of the victims has been identified as 33-year-old Serochanie Kehmraj of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo. The taxi driver who also died has not yet been identified.

Police said six occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, with two seated in the front and four in the back. Four persons sustained injuries, including Kehmraj’s daughter, who remains hospitalised in a stable condition.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Police reports indicate that the taxi driver attempted to overtake another vehicle at a high rate of speed. While negotiating a turn, the driver reportedly lost control of the car, which then struck metal guard rails, before colliding with a lamp pole and coming to a stop.

Reports further stated that the woman and her relatives had hired the driver and were travelling to Berbice to visit family when the accident occurred. Police investigations are ongoing.
