In a heartwarming event on August 24, 2025, Ms. Alice Baptist, a 91-year-old pensioner, received a new semi-furnished home, courtesy of the Community Development Council (CDC). This initiative was made possible through the village’s 2025 Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) funds.

Housing and Water Minister, the Hon. Collin Croal, joined Ms. Baptist and other villagers to celebrate this significant milestone. During the handover ceremony, Ms. Baptist was also presented with a wheelchair to enhance her mobility and comfort.
Minister Croal commended the CDC for their efforts, stating, “It is always commendable when a village can come to the aid of its seniors.” He emphasized the importance of community support in improving the lives of vulnerable residents.
Chairperson of the CDC, Anita Clementson, praised the project, highlighting its role in elevating the living standards of those in need. “This is a proud moment for our community,” she remarked, underscoring the positive impact of local leadership through the LCDS.
The initiative not only provides a safe and comfortable home for Ms. Baptist but also reflects the community’s commitment to caring for its elderly population. As Citrus Grove continues to prioritize the well-being of its residents, this project stands as a testament to the power of collective effort and compassion.
