A 34-year-old Parika laborer, Ryan Singh—also known as “Satan”—was remanded to prison on Wednesday following his arraignment at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.

Singh appeared before Magistrate Alisha George to face a charge of conspiracy to commit a felony, contrary to Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01. The charge is directly linked to an ongoing police investigation into the discovery of ten unlicensed AK-47 assault rifles in East Coast Berbice earlier this year.
Singh pleaded not guilty to the offense. The court denied his request for bail, and he was remanded to prison. The matter is set to continue on July 10, 2026.
The investigation stems from a May 22, 2026, incident in which police conducted a stop-and-search operation near the Berbice River Bridge access road. During the operation, a black Toyota Fielder wagon reportedly sped away from officers.
Acting on follow-up intelligence, ranks later discovered ten AK-47 rifles, wrapped in plastic and cloth, discarded along the No. 11 Village Public Road, Corentyne. Forensic examination of the weapons revealed that serial numbers had been tampered with to obscure their origin.
Following the discovery, the Guyana Police Force issued wanted bulletins for three individuals, including Singh. The initial arrest in the case involved 33-year-old taxi driver Stephen Rajah, who was intercepted at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara, and subsequently charged with the unlawful possession of firearms. Other suspects identified in the investigation have also since been brought into custody as police continue to unravel the conspiracy behind the arms cache.
