A new terminal building is set to be constructed at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri, by the UK-based BHM Group.

During the sod-turning ceremony, President Irfaan Ali emphasized the need for the expansion due to increasing air traffic. He noted that a single terminal cannot accommodate the future demands of Guyana’s growing travel industry.
“This is about catering for the future,” he stated, asserting the importance of building for long-term growth. The new terminal will feature spaces for airlines and modern amenities, including business lounges.
Works Minister Juan Edghill highlighted that the terminal will enhance facilities and provide quicker access for travelers. The 150,000 square-foot terminal will be designed in partnership with the Manchester Airport Group.
UK High Commissioner Jane Miller expressed confidence in BHM Group’s ability to deliver a project that Guyana will be proud of.
