Michael Richmond, a national candidate for the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), has publicly condemned recent comments made by former Minister of Finance Winston Jordan, who suggested that Aubrey Norton should step down for the “betterment” of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR).

Richmond criticized Jordan’s remarks as both “unfortunate and hypocritical,” highlighting Jordan’s tenure during a challenging economic period in Guyana. He pointed out that Jordan’s name has been associated with questionable dealings, including allegations of an $18 million bribe linked to ExxonMobil.
“Rather than destabilizing the PNCR’s leadership, Mr. Jordan should reflect on his own legacy of poor fiscal management and the unanswered questions surrounding his conduct,” Richmond stated. He emphasized that Aubrey Norton has consistently defended the rights of marginalized Guyanese, asserting that strong leadership is essential in the face of corruption and neglect from the current administration.
Richmond further declared that the PNCR remains focused on unity, accountability, and the pursuit of justice for all Guyanese, urging Jordan to refrain from making reckless public comments. “His advice is neither sought nor credible,” he concluded, reiterating the party’s commitment to addressing the needs and challenges faced by the nation.
