Labourer Remanded for Unlawful Possession of Firearm

Twenty-three-year-old Heimraj Ramjewan, a labourer from Lot 23 Parika Outfall, Essequibo, has been remanded to prison following his appearance at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court via Zoom. He faced a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm without a license.

Upon the charge being read to him, Ramjewan pleaded guilty and was subsequently remanded. The case has been adjourned to December 2, 2025, for further proceedings. The court emphasized the seriousness of firearm possession laws and the importance of ensuring public safety.
