The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning, through its Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department, recently carried out an offshore inspection of the Prosperity Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The inspection aimed to evaluate the vessel’s compliance with Guyana’s OSH Act and the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Standards.

The inspection team, consisting of Occupational Health and Safety Officers Mr. Naipaul Persaud and Mr. Javyn Persaud, focused on reviewing operational procedures, assessing working conditions, and directly engaging with employees to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
During their visit, the officers met with onboard personnel to discuss workplace concerns and verify compliance with established safety protocols. The Prosperity FPSO currently accommodates 147 personnel.
This inspection is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry to proactively protect the rights, health, and safety of all workers, especially those in the rapidly expanding oil and gas industry.
The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning remains committed to fostering safe and equitable working environments across Guyana, with a particular focus on the offshore sector as the nation’s oil and gas industry continues to grow.
