President Dr. Irfaan Ali has issued a transformative directive to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), aiming to enhance the educational qualifications of its members. Speaking at the GPF’s Annual Christmas Breakfast on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of every officer obtaining passes in Mathematics and English within the next three years.

This initiative is framed as a crucial investment in the professional growth and long-term security of police personnel. President Ali instructed senior officers to begin the immediate registration of all junior ranks in the Government’s online learning platform, known as the Guyana Digital School.

“We now have the Guyana Digital School, available 24/7. We must work in the next three years to ensure every single one of our ranks passes Mathematics and English,” the President stated. He urged leaders within the force to prioritize these subjects before considering others, turning this educational uplift into a collective challenge.

The President highlighted that educational advancement is core to the Government’s vision, ensuring that members of the Force can retire with dignity, armed with qualifications and enhanced career opportunities. “So, I ask you as leaders to make use of the opportunities we are presenting to you,” he said. “Do your masters in logistics planning so when you retire, many opportunities, many, many opportunities are before you. 55 is not the end of your career… it’s an accumulation of spotless service and qualifications that graduates you into better form and greater opportunities.”

This initiative aims not only to raise educational standards within the police force but also to foster a culture of continuous professional development, positioning officers for success both during and after their careers.
