First Lady Arya Ali Celebrates Christmas by Handing Over Home to Single Mother and Her Five Children

News

In a heartwarming gesture just in time for the Christmas season, First Lady Arya Ali presented a newly constructed three-bedroom home to Teasha Spellen, a single mother of five. The ceremony took place today, marking a significant milestone for Spellen and her children, aged between three and 14.

The newly built home, valued at approximately $14 million, encompasses the costs of land development, fencing, construction, and furnishing. It provides Spellen and her children with a safe and stable environment, a drastic improvement from their previous living situation where they shared a single bedroom at a relative’s house.

“I understand some of the challenges Teasha has faced,” said First Lady Ali, who was raised in a single-parent household herself. “This made today’s handing over even more special for me.”

The home was delivered to the family through the First Lady’s office, with generous support from Courts Guyana, Comfort Sleep, and Guyana Breweries Inc. This event marks the fourth home that the office of the First Lady has provided to families in Region 3, emphasizing a commitment to uplift and support those in need within the community.

As the festive season approaches, this initiative not only offers a new beginning for Teasha and her children but also embodies the spirit of compassion and community shared during the holiday season.
