Police Investigate Alleged $153.9 Million Larceny by Clerk in Telecommunications Company

Hgp Nightly News Reports | Authorities have launched an investigation into a significant case of alleged larceny involving more than $153.9 million, reportedly misappropriated by a clerk or servant from a telecommunications company. The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Quincy Baird, a resident of Herstelling on the East Bank of Demerara.

The allegations state that Baird unlawfully appropriated a total of $153,922,971 over an extended period, with the offenses reportedly occurring between July 1, 2021, and February 18, 2025.

According to police sources, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted an operation on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 4:33 PM. During this operation, they located Baird and formally informed him of the allegations against him.

Baird was subsequently arrested and taken to CID Headquarters, where he remains in custody as investigations continue into the specifics of the alleged offense.

Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further developments in the case are expected.
