Police have apprehended 19-year-old Kobie Isiah Benjamin, a welder from Annandale New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, following a wanted bulletin issued in connection with an alleged attempted murder and robbery under arms.
Acting on information received on Friday, January 16, 2026, law enforcement officers conducted a search at a residence in Annandale, where they discovered the suspect hiding in the ceiling of the house. Benjamin was arrested without incident.
He is wanted for his involvement in an incident that occurred on Monday, January 12, 2026, in Triumph, East Coast Demerara, during which a man named Shaheen Amanat, known as “Ryan,” sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Benjamin has since been taken into police custody and is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have indicated that investigations are continuing in this serious case. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
