Three men from the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), were fined for various traffic-related offences after appearing before the Charity and Anna Regina Magistrates’ Courts.

Trevon Jupiter
Trevon Jupiter, 27, a miner from Dunkel, was charged with refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test. This offence occurred on February 6 at Charity Public Road. The charge, under Section 39(B)(5) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, was heard on Monday at the Charity Magistrate’s Court. Jupiter pleaded guilty and was fined $30,000 or three months’ imprisonment in default.
Daywan Ramrattie
Daywan Ramrattie, 39, a driver from Affiance, faced charges for driving while exceeding the prescribed breath alcohol limit. This incident also occurred on February 6 at Cotton Field Public Road. The charge falls under Section 39(A)(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 17 of 2022. His case was heard on Tuesday at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. Ramrattie pleaded guilty and received a fine of $200,000 or six months’ imprisonment in default.
Ian Fordyce
Ian Fordyce, 29, a taxi driver from Benn Street, Dartmouth, was charged with driving while his breath alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, with the offence occurring on February 14, 2026, at La-Bella Alliance Public Road. He faced the same charge as Ramrattie, under Section 39(A)(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act. Fordyce appeared before Magistrate Mohabir on Tuesday, pleaded guilty, and was also fined $200,000 or six months’ imprisonment in default.
