Authorities in Regional Division 10 are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mango Landing, resulting in the death of 50-year-old Balram Jhaman from Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
According to preliminary investigations, Jhaman was involved in a mishap with articulated motor lorry GAL 8612, which was parked facing west on the southern side of the Mabura Trail. An excavator was positioned on the trailer when Jhaman reportedly entered the machine in an attempt to move it off the trailer. Unfortunately, the excavator capsized and fell into a ditch, pinning him beneath.
Emergency services were called, and Jhaman was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending doctor.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident is ongoing.
