Joel Anthony Tamesar, a 28-year-old construction worker, tragically died after being stabbed during an altercation on Sunday evening.
According to reports from Police Headquarters, Tamesar was in a shop in Lust-en-Rust when he engaged in a fight with a 38-year-old man between 7:30 PM and 7:45 PM. During the altercation, the older man allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed Tamesar on the left side of his chest before fleeing the scene in a southern direction.
Prompt action was taken by public-spirited citizens, who rushed Tamesar to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.
His body was later transported to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where an autopsy is set to be conducted.
Police located and arrested the suspect at Lust-en-Rust, where he was found hiding in a trench. He is currently in police custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation into the incident.
