In a significant development on Tuesday, law enforcement officials uncovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and matching ammunition in an empty lot at Ulverston Village, Corentyne, as they investigated a series of recent robberies in the area.

According to police reports, the discovery was made during an inquiry into robberies that had occurred in Rose Hall Town. Following leads, officers arrested a 21-year-old construction worker from Alness Village, Corentyne.
As part of the operation, police conducted a search in Ulverston Village, leading to the discovery of a cutlass sack hidden in a tamarind tree on the vacant lot. Inside the sack, officers found a 9mm pistol with four matching rounds, an AK-47 rifle with seventeen rounds of 7.62 ammunition, along with a pair of gloves.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Rose Hall Town Police Station along with the recovered firearms and ammunition, which have been lodged as evidence while the investigation continues.
Authorities are pursuing further inquiries to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovery and its connection to the recent criminal activities in the region.
