A 31-year-old driver from No. 28 Village in Berbice has been remanded to prison following his arrest on drug trafficking charges. Patrick Roach was taken into custody on March 5, 2026, at Helena Public Road, East Coast Demerara, where authorities reportedly discovered 6.80 pounds of cannabis, equivalent to 3,084.428 grams, in his possession.
Roach appeared before Magistrate A. Wilson at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court on March 6, 2026, where the charge was formally presented to him. He pleaded not guilty to the offense.
Bail was denied, and Roach has been remanded to prison pending further proceedings. The case has been adjourned to March 31, 2026, for a follow-up hearing.
