Demerara Bank Limited has revealed the ten winners of the 2025–2026 DBL Innovation Tank, completing a vibrant competition that highlighted the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit across Guyana. Launched in September 2025, this initiative aims to support early-stage businesses and startups through a G$10 million Corporate Social Responsibility commitment, providing non-repayable grants, mentorship, and practical business development support.

The DBL Innovation Tank, guided by the motto “Dream. Build. Lead.,” sought to help entrepreneurs transform their ideas into sustainable ventures that contribute to Guyana’s economy. The response was overwhelming, with over 200 applications received, each presenting innovative solutions to various challenges.
After a structured evaluation process assessing innovation, scalability, and potential for sustainable development, 23 entrepreneurs were shortlisted to participate in a development phase. This phase offered mentorship and training from experienced professionals, bolstered by partnerships with organizations such as the Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association and the American Chamber of Commerce Guyana.
The competition culminated on March 7, 2026, during Pitch Day, where finalists presented their ideas to a panel of judges comprised of banking experts. The judges evaluated pitches based on several criteria, including business concept clarity, market opportunity, business models, and social impact.
After careful consideration, the panel selected the following winners, each receiving grant funding of G$1 million, along with continued mentorship and networking opportunities:
Ruth Pendleton – Divine Preserves: Expanding production and market reach for traditional Guyanese condiments and preserves.
Da Costa Aboagye – ProElevate Sports Agency: Developing structured pathways for young footballers to access local and international opportunities.

Demerara Bank views the Innovation Tank not merely as a competition, but as a long-term commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses that can create jobs and strengthen the economy.
The Bank expressed gratitude to everyone involved, including applicants, participants, mentors, judges, and partner organizations that contributed to the program’s success. They also praised the 23 finalists and the spirit of innovation demonstrated by all the applicants.
