A 21-year-old man, identified as George Khan, called “Georgie,” of Lot 363 Good Hope Village, Essequibo Coast, Region Two, has been charged with allegedly setting fire to the home of a 74-year-old female pensioner.
Khan appeared on Thursday at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court before Magistrate Mahendra Mohabir.
Court heard that the woman’s home was set alight on Sunday, March 22, between 03:30 hrs and 04:15 hrs.
Khan was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He was subsequently remanded to prison until his next court appearance on May 15, 2026.
