A 25-year-old accountant is in critical condition after being stabbed several times during an armed robbery at the Kitty Seawall in the early hours of Monday morning, with police crediting CCTV footage from the Government’s Safe City Initiative for the swift arrest of one of the suspects.

The incident occurred at approximately 02:50 hours and involved two victims — the 25-year-old accountant of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, and a 30-year-old accountant of Eccles New Scheme, East Bank Demerara. The two men were walking westward along the southern side of the Kitty Seawall Road when they were confronted by two identifiable males who had been sitting on the seawall, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The suspects approached the victims and demanded money. During the confrontation, one of the victims pushed the armed suspect and attempted to flee. He was chased, fell to the ground, and was stabbed multiple times before the attackers fled eastward along the seawall road on foot.
Police responded and escorted both victims to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. The 25-year-old was examined and admitted with a stab wound to the right side of his chest. His condition is listed as critical.
Using CCTV footage obtained from the Government of Guyana Safe City Initiative, police were able to identify and arrest one of the suspects — a 24-year-old mason of ‘C’ Field, Sophia. He remains in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts to locate the second suspect are ongoing.
Investigations are continuing.
