A joint operation targeting suspected human trafficking activity at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, late Sunday night found no evidence of Trafficking in Persons, the Guyana Police Force has confirmed.

The exercise was carried out between 23:30 hours on Sunday, April 12 and 00:15 hours on Monday, April 13 by ranks from the Guyana Police Force Headquarters and Regional Division 4’B’, alongside personnel from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Acting on information received, the team visited a building in the area where seventeen Venezuelan women were contacted and screened for indicators of human trafficking. The screening revealed no signs of trafficking, and the individuals were subsequently sent away.
A search of the premises was also conducted, but nothing illegal was found. No arrests were made.
Investigations into the initial report are continuing.
