The aircraft, piloted by Captain Melville, was on its way back from Suriname when the animals crossed the runway during landing. One animal died as a result of the collision. While the Beechcraft sustained damage, no visible injuries were reported among the passengers or the pilot.

The incident occurred hours after the remains of Captain Ryder Castillo were brought to the city. Captain Castillo was the pilot of the ill-fated Air Services Limited aircraft 8R YAC, which went missing on a flight from Mahdia to Imbaimaidai last Friday morning. The aircraft was subsequently located on a steep mountain face.
