A 40-year-old porter from Good Hope, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with rape following an alleged incident involving a woman from the same community in September 2024.
Kalika Singh, of Lot 429, Good Hope, appeared before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the charge was read to him. Singh was not required to enter a plea and was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with conditions.
He has been ordered to report to the Aurora Police Station every Friday and must remain at least 100 feet away from the victim until the matter is resolved.
Singh is scheduled to return to court on April 30, 2026.
