But today, Jamal is facing something no child should ever have to face. He has been diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia, an aggressive and life-threatening blood cancer.
His doctors have advised that his best chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant. However, the heartbreaking reality is that this life-saving treatment is not yet available where Jamal and his family live. His only option is to travel overseas for treatment.
The cost of international cancer care including medical treatment, travel, housing and months of recovery is far beyond what his family can afford on their own. Without receiving treatment abroad, Jamal will not survive.
