A 33-year-old labourer from Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), has been fined $80,000 after pleading guilty to two traffic-related offences before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.

Jason Persaud was charged with refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test and driving a motor vehicle while disqualified. Both offences were committed on April 22 on the Anna Regina Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
The matter was heard before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed, who fined Persaud $30,000 for refusing to provide a breath specimen, with two weeks’ imprisonment in default, and $50,000 for driving while disqualified, also with two weeks’ imprisonment in default.
