Two drivers were convicted and fined for various traffic offences in separate appearances before magistrates’ courts on Monday, 27th April, 2026.

Stephon Mayers, a 29-year-old male of Lot 1005 EE Eccles, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Her Worship Magistrate Shavanie Lallaram at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court #7 on Monday, 27th April, 2026, at approximately 09:00 hours.
Mayers, the driver of motor car PAE 6173, pleaded guilty to two offences:
Dangerous driving
Crossing a solid double yellow line
The offences were committed on Croal Street, within the vicinity of the Supreme Court and Magistrate’s Court silent zone.
He was fined $40,000 for dangerous driving and $20,000 for crossing the solid double yellow line, for a total of $60,000.
In a separate case, Shimron Caser, a 24-year-old labourer of Charity Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was charged with three traffic violations committed on Sunday, 11th April, 2026, at Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast:
Failing to have identification mark affixed to the rear of a motor vehicle
Breach of insurance
Unlicensed driver
Caser appeared before His Worship Magistrate Mr. Tariq Mohamed at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27th April, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
He was fined as follows:
$130,000 for failing to have identification mark (rear), in default of three months’ imprisonment
$25,000 for breach of insurance, in default of two weeks’ imprisonment
$40,000 for unlicensed driver, in default of three months’ imprisonment
The total fines imposed and paid amounted to $195,000.
