In another dramatic twist, the prime suspect in the gas station bombing case told the Court today that he no longer wants to plead guilty to the charge.

He told the Court that he is no longer admitting guilt, following a decision by the Director of Public Prosecution to proceed with the terrorism charges against the three other Venezuelan nationals jointly charged with him.
In March, the Venezuelan national, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Poedemo, told the Chief Magistrate (ag) Faith McGusty that he was the sole person responsible for the deadly bombing that claimed the life of six-year-old Soraya Bourne in October 2025.
When the case was called this morning, the Court was informed that the DPP would be proceeding with the terrorism charges against Ramirez Poedemo and the other co-accused—Alexander Bettencourt, Jhonny Boodram and Kystal LaCruz.
Ramirez-Poedemo then opted to change his plea, telling the court he no longer wants to admit guilt.
Given this latest development, the Chief Magistrate (ag) announced that the paper committal proceedings in the deadly Regent Street Bombing will commence on June 8 from 1:30 pm at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
During the paper committal proceedings, the Chief Magistrate will review all statements, reports and documentary evidence before deciding whether there is sufficient evidence against the accused.
Back in April at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court, Magistrate Alisha George cleared the two Guyanese men—Wayne Corriea and Ramesh Pramdeo—of the crime, ruling that there was insufficient evidence to connect them to the bombing.
However, Venezuelan national Jennifer Rodrigues was committed to stand trial in the High Court based on the evidence before the Court.
The dramatic reversal of the guilty plea represents a significant development in a high-profile case and sets the stage for intensified legal proceedings.
