The accident occurred at approximately 12:03hrs and involved a Guyana Police Force (GPF) motorcycle bearing registration CR 6252 and a motorcar bearing registration PPP 758, driven by a 39-year-old man from Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

According to a police statement, the motorcar was stationary on the northern side of the roadway facing east when the driver reportedly executed a U-turn across the road, colliding with the GPF motorcycle, which was proceeding east along the same side of the Hague Public Road.

The impact flung the corporal over the motorcar and onto the road, where he sustained injuries about his body. Public-spirited persons assisted by transporting him to the Leonora Cottage Hospital in a conscious condition. He was subsequently transferred to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital for further medical attention.

A breathalyser test administered to the driver of PPP 758 returned no trace of alcohol. The driver has since been taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
