At approximately 11:41 a.m., a Guyana Fire Service fire tender, operated by a 50-year-old Leading Fireman, was attempting to exit the stadium via an eastern gate. During this maneuver, the fire tender struck a portable light pole. The force of the impact caused the pole to topple, landing on a Ministry of Housing vehicle parked nearby. The government vehicle sustained visible damage to its right-side driver’s door and front fender.

Following the collision, the scene grew tense as police began their investigation. According to official reports, a commotion broke out involving the fire tender driver, police officers, and other members of the Guyana Fire Service. The disagreement reportedly started as police attempted to escort the driver away to assist with the investigation.

The situation was eventually de-escalated, and order was restored at the venue.

The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that investigations are active regarding both the initial collision and the disturbance that followed. As the International Building Expo continues throughout the weekend, police remain on-site to maintain order and manage the large crowds expected at the facility.
