Thomas, a resident of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 29, 2026. He is accused of murdering 26-year-old Dailen Paneque Gomes, a Cuban national residing in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.

The indictment alleges that the murder occurred between June 18 and June 24, 2026, in the Enmore South area. Reports indicate that Thomas and the victim had been in a personal relationship.

During the court proceedings, the charge was read to the defendant. As is standard procedure for indictable offenses of this nature, Thomas was not required to enter a plea. Magistrate Mohamed ordered that he be remanded to prison while the investigation and legal process continue.

The matter has been adjourned until July 21, 2026.
