Authorities have apprehended one suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Thursday afternoon outside a supermarket in Herstelling.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, a 30-year-old woman was accosted while walking along the street after exiting a supermarket. According to reports from Police Headquarters, two men in a white motor car approached the victim. One of the suspects, who was reportedly armed with a knife, exited the vehicle and threatened the woman, forcibly taking a yellow metal chain and a yellow metal ring. During the encounter, the victim sustained injuries to one of her fingers.
Following a report of the incident, police launched an investigation and were able to track the suspect vehicle to Georgetown, where it was successfully intercepted. The driver, a 33-year-old male from South Ruimveldt, was taken into custody. Police have lodged the knife used in the crime along with the motor car as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are actively searching for the second suspect who remains at large.
