Hon. Annette N. Ferguson MP Accuses CHPA of Misleading the Public

In a recent statement, Hon. Annette N. Ferguson MP criticized the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) for denying claims that Venezuelans are occupying housing intended for Guyanese citizens, which was funded by taxpayers.

The statement, dated Sunday, June 8, 2025, prompted a strong response from Ferguson, who asserts that her firsthand observations tell a different story.

“I was on the ground in Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara, in February 2025, and what I uncovered reveals a troubling reality,” Ferguson stated. “I always do my homework before publishing anything, whether in print or online. This is not just speculation; it’s based on real evidence.”

Ferguson expressed her frustration with the current government, questioning how the people of Guyana can trust the PPP/C regime. “Time and time again, it’s clear that cover-ups and propaganda are their default responses,” she said.

As she prepares to release videos documenting her findings, Ferguson challenged the CHPA to respond appropriately. “Let’s see what kind of spin or excuse they come up with to counter the real evidence I’ve gathered,” she added.

The allegations raise significant concerns about housing policies and the allocation of taxpayer-funded resources in Guyana, prompting calls for greater transparency from government agencies.
