Regarding Kwakwani Police Station
(Ministry of Home Affairs) — The Ministry of Home Affairs, led by Minister Hon. Robeson Benn, has categorically refuted misleading claims circulating on social media regarding the Kwakwani Police Station.

Contrary to reports suggesting that the station is being demolished just one month after a complete renovation, the Ministry assures the public that only a specific section of the building is being addressed due to unforeseen structural concerns.
Following recent rehabilitation work—including plumbing, carpentry, electrical upgrades, and the installation of new windows and gutters—it was discovered that the rear section of the building was sinking, compromising its structural integrity.
In response, the Ministry has taken swift action to demolish only the affected area. This will be followed by the construction of a new extension and addition, ensuring that the Kwakwani Police Station is safe, durable, and capable of serving the community well into the future.
The Ministry is committed to the responsible management of public resources and the safety of all who use its facilities. The current works are a necessary response to structural challenges that could not have been anticipated prior to renovation. The Ministry assures the public that every effort is being made to address these issues efficiently and transparently.
The Ministry of Home Affairs remains dedicated to prudent financial management and the ongoing improvement of police infrastructure across Guyana.
