The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that ballistic tests reveal the fatal bullet that killed 29-year-old construction worker Rondell Clarke was discharged from an AR rifle assigned to a private security officer.

Clarke, a resident of Foulis on the East Coast of Demerara, was shot on Sunday evening between 7:30 PM and 7:45 PM along Second Street in his community. Following the shooting, police officers found Clarke conscious and transported him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was admitted to the critical surgical bay. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:20 PM that same night.
During a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, investigators recovered a damaged metal fragment from Clarke’s body, which was sent to the Crime Laboratory of the Criminal Investigations Department for ballistic analysis. Experts concluded that the fragment was discharged from an AR rifle issued to Messiah Mussendeen, a security officer with Force Security Solutions. This rifle is now a key piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Additionally, a 9mm spent shell casing recovered from the crime scene was linked to a pistol assigned to Devon Boucher, another security guard from Force Security Solutions who was reportedly present during the incident.
However, police have made it “unequivocally clear” that the fatal shot that led to Clarke’s death was fired from Mussendeen’s AR rifle. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. His firearm has been seized for forensic examination.
The Guyana Police Force has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and is committed to pursuing all relevant evidence to ensure justice is served in the killing of Rondell Clarke.
