Snow Cone Vendor Remanded on Cannabis Trafficking Charges

A snow cone vendor has been remanded to prison after being charged with trafficking 262 grams of cannabis. Clad Cole, 59, of Lot 17 Belladrum Village, West Coast Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Fort Wellington Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution opposed bail, and Magistrate Mohabir upheld this request, leading to Cole’s remand. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 27, with the case transferred to the Weldaad Magistrate’s Court for further reporting.

The incident transpired on June 8, 2025, around 8:55 AM during a routine roadblock on the Weldaad Public Road. Law enforcement officers stopped minibus number BSS 843, where Cole was seated in the rear passenger seat holding a black plastic bag.

Upon request, Cole consented to a search of the bag, which revealed leaves, seeds, and stems testing positive for cannabis. He was promptly informed of his offense, arrested, and taken to the Weldaad Police Station, where the narcotics was weighed and confirmed to be 262 grams.

Samples were collected, and the narcotics were officially logged with the station sergeant at the Weldaad Police Station. The case continues to develop as authorities investigate further.
