Queen’s College student Jayden Adrian emerged as Guyana’s top performer in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams, achieving 21 Grade Ones and 6 Grade Twos. He expressed fulfillment from his hard work, aiming for a scholarship in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics by writing 27 subjects.

This year, 12,685 students sat for the exams, with Guyana achieving an overall pass rate of 66.76%. Notably, Mathematics improved to a 32% pass rate, up from 27% in 2024. Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain highlighted the positive trend, noting improvements in 15 subjects.
Minister of Education Priya Manickchand attributed these gains to government interventions, including providing calculators and textbooks, as well as enhanced support in schools.
In the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), the pass rate slightly declined to 91.1%. Queen’s College student Arthur Roberts topped the CAPE exams with 9 Grade Ones and 4 Grade Twos, crediting his success to support from his family and teachers.
