News Room Guyana Reports : PPP General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo expressed satisfaction with the Carter Center’s pre-election report, noting it found no evidence of a “padded” voter list, countering claims from the opposition. He welcomed the report’s acknowledgment of a generally peaceful campaign.

Jagdeo highlighted some omissions in the report, mentioning several incidents involving the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party that were not included, such as threats and assaults by WIN candidates. He also pointed out concerns about WIN’s activities lacking necessary permits and alleged vote-buying by its presidential candidate.
Regarding U.S. sanctions on WIN associates, Jagdeo criticized the report for downplaying their impact and stated that banks often “de-risk” to avoid compliance issues. He defended government project launches during the campaign, framing them as fulfillment of promises rather than misuse of state resources.
Jagdeo plans to provide more detailed responses at a press conference on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive assessment that includes all relevant facts. The PPP invited the Carter Center to observe the elections, continuing a historic relationship.
