The Guyanese government aims to deliver 40,000 houses over the next five years, utilizing prefabricated technology to meet rising demand.

Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal noted that the current housing output of about 4,000 homes is insufficient. He emphasized the need for innovative construction methods and large companies to achieve the ambitious target.
This initiative aligns with the PPP/C’s manifesto, with President Irfaan Ali promising that 16 houses will be delivered daily if re-elected on September 1. Each prefabricated unit is expected to cost $15 million, resulting in a total investment of $450 billion and potentially creating 150,000 jobs.
The program will focus on utilizing already allocated lands to boost construction and support the economy. “We want to see houses on them,” Croal stated.
