NCN Reports : Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after a woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds during a violent confrontation at Islington Village, East Bank Berbice.

The victim, 27-year-old Vasanti Gordon of Lot 2 Islington, remains hospitalised following the attack, which occurred on April 11 at around 16:50 hours.
According to police reports, Gordon was sitting in her vehicle when the suspect, identified as Damon Morgan of Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje Berbice, approached armed with a handgun. He allegedly discharged several rounds, striking Gordon in both feet, before hitting her in the head with the firearm and threatening to kill her.
Gordon was rushed to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital, where doctors observed four puncture wounds to her right leg and thigh. She remains admitted and under medical care.
Police say the suspect and victim were previously in a romantic relationship that ended amid reports of infidelity and physical abuse.
Morgan turned himself in at the Central Police Station on April 20 and was subsequently arrested after being informed of the allegations against him. Investigations are ongoing.
