Guyanese boxer Laured ‘The Lion’ Stewart delivered on his promise, defeating local favorite Carlos Valenzuela Gonzalez with a knockout in Round Two to capture the Universal Boxing Alliance (UBA) Cruiserweight title.

This marks Stewart’s return to the ring after a 14-month hiatus. Known for his knockout power, he has stopped four of his five opponents in his career, solidifying his reputation in the sport. His only loss came against the unbeaten Jalen Renaud in the United States.
For Stewart, this victory is more than just a title; it represents a crucial step in reigniting his boxing career. “It’s a little difficult being in the army,” he explained, addressing the challenges of balancing military service with his boxing ambitions. “But I’m committed to that cause and I’m training hard. I’m getting out of the military next year and I’m going to give my last seven years wholeheartedly to boxing after that.”
The win not only boosts Stewart’s confidence but also serves as a reminder of his ultimate goal: to become a world champion.
In a celebratory moment, a smiling Laured Stewart was seen proudly holding the Universal Boxing Alliance Cruiserweight belt, marking a significant achievement in his boxing journey.
