The News Desk Reports : Ram Singh, the suspect in the alleged murder of his reputed wife, 36-year-old Alisha Narine, succumbed on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after reportedly consuming a poisonous substance. Singh was under police guard at the No. 75 Village Regional Hospital when he died around 14:30 hrs.

The incident unfolded earlier that morning at a sawmill compound in Crabwood Creek, where Narine, a domestic worker and vendor, lived with Singh. The couple, who had a common-law relationship for fifteen years, shared two children aged 15 and 8 and had been experiencing ongoing domestic issues that had previously involved the courts.

Investigations revealed that Narine had video-called her cousin, Taramattie Joseph, around 09:30 hrs. During the call, Joseph witnessed Singh approaching Narine with a cutlass. Singh then seized the phone and stated, “Today, today I will murder her,” before abruptly ending the call. Joseph informed her daughter about the alarming situation.

Shortly after, Felisha Narine, 18, was alerted by a neighbor that her mother was being assaulted. Upon arriving at the sawmill, she discovered her mother’s lifeless body with apparent chop wounds and promptly reported the incident to the Springlands Police Station.

Authorities launched a search for Singh and found him approximately 360 feet away in a sideline trench under a tree, suspected to have ingested poison. He was arrested, cautioned, and transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Both bodies are currently at the Skeldon Public Hospital Mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examinations.
