News Room Reports : The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) has experienced another significant resignation with the departure of Robert Wayne Maison, a longstanding party activist dating back to the era of former leader Desmond Hoyte. Maison, who serves as the People’s Representative Councillor for Constituency Seven (Stabroek-Bourda) at the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, confirmed his resignation to News Room on Monday.

In his role as Liaison Officer to Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton, Maison was responsible for mobilization and outreach. He indicated that he has informed the party’s General Secretary of his decision and plans to submit a formal resignation letter later today. Notably, he will retain his elected position at City Hall.
Maison cited feelings of disrespect as a key reason for his departure, particularly after his name was removed from the PNCR’s national top-up list by Carol Joseph, leaving him on a regional list instead. He accused Norton of favoring “friends, family, and favorites” in the candidate selection process.
“I find it disrespectful that Chairman Shurwayne Holder didn’t get selected,” Maison remarked, criticizing the party for undermining capable members. He expressed disappointment in Norton, whom he had previously supported, calling him “not a man of his word.”
Maison’s resignation follows a series of high-profile departures from the PNCR, including Executive Member Mervyn Williams, who stepped down on Saturday, and Chairman Shurwayne Holder, who resigned just a day later. Holder’s resignation, which raised concerns about internal dissatisfaction, was confirmed by a senior party source.
The back-to-back resignations have stirred unease within the PNCR, highlighting growing discontent with how senior and parliamentary positions are being distributed following the party’s electoral defeat. As of now, the PNCR has not issued an official statement regarding these developments.
Holder, previously a staunch supporter of Norton, was notably absent from the list of candidates selected to represent the coalition in the 13th Parliament. Efforts to contact him for comment were unsuccessful, further deepening the uncertainty within the party.
