
A duo appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before His Worship T. Mohamed, facing charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. They were charged with three counts of the offense.
The accused, Quincy Austin, a 38-year-old gold miner, and Ameidis Joseidis Mattey Perez, a 27-year-old cook, both from the West Watooka Hilltop Squatting area in Linden, pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Bail was set at $50,000 each for the first two counts and $10,000 for the third count, totaling $110,000 each. The duo was arrested on November 9, 2025, by officers at the Itaballi Police Checkpoint.
They have been instructed to report to the Itaballi checkpoint on the first of every month. The case has been adjourned until January 5, 2025.
