The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning (MOLMP) has acknowledged the reports circulating on social media concerning a fire at a building previously associated with the Ministry on Princess Elizabeth Road in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
This incident is most unfortunate, and we are relieved to report that no injuries were sustained. While we regret the damage to property, it is essential to clarify that the regional operations of the Ministry have been relocated to a different facility at Grant 228 Vryman Erven, New Amsterdam, Berbice. This relocation has been effective since February 2025.
We would like to confirm that the affected building has not housed or facilitated any of the Ministry’s regional services to citizens since that relocation date. The public can be assured that all services remain uninterrupted and are fully available at the current Vryman Erven location.
