Davin Persaud, a 40-year-old teacher from Lot 22 Maria’s Lodge, faced legal repercussions after being charged for refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test. The incident, which was deemed a violation of public justice, took place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, on Colombia Public Road.

The charge against Persaud was filed under Section 39B (5) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02. His case was brought before His Worship, Magistrate Mr. Ravindra Mohabir, at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.
Upon hearing the charge, Persaud entered a plea of guilty. In response, Magistrate Mohabir imposed a fine of $20,000. Additionally, Persaud faces a sentence of three weeks of imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
