His mother, Domatie Surujall, is now grappling with unimaginable grief after her son was killed in a crash along the Williamsburg Public Road, Corentyne Berbice, on Sunday night. In an emotional interview, Surujall recalled their final moments together at their Lot 25 ‘D’ home, saying her son had assured her he would return shortly. As time passed with no sign of him, she grew increasingly worried.

Hours later, the devastating news arrived Gopilall had been involved in a serious accident and was taken to hospital. When relatives rushed to the medical facility, they were informed he had not survived. A postmortem examination conducted on Monday confirmed he died from multiple injuries consistent with a motor vehicle crash. “I need justice for my son,” a grief-stricken Surujall said.

Gopilall, described as a devoted father of one, has left a deep void in the lives of his loved ones and the wider community.

According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 21:00 hrs and involved motor lorry GVV 5043, owned by a Timehri-based engineering company and driven by a 27-year-old man from Covent Garden. The lorry was travelling east along the northern lane at normal speed when Gopilall, riding motorcycle CR 1603 with pillion rider Yedesh Singh, 27, of Fyrish Village, approached from the opposite direction at high speed. The lorry driver suddenly turned right into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision in the southern lane.

The impact threw both men from the bike. Gopilall was transported to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Singh sustained a fractured jaw and clavicle and was stabilised at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

The lorry driver was subjected to a breathalyser test, which recorded readings of 31 and 32 micrograms. He remains in police custody assisting with the investigation.
