NCN Guyana Reports : Two men have been charged following the discovery of firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in the Dukestown area, Corentyne, Berbice.

Officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) conducted a search on April 16 near the Dukestown seawalls, where the two suspects were found carrying separate boxes. The search revealed two Zoraki 9mm pistols and a single round of ammunition.
The men were taken to the Springlands Police Station, where they were informed of the offences and placed in custody. On April 20, both were jointly charged with possession of ammunition without a licence, contrary to the Firearms Act.
The matter was heard at the Whim Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tuana Hardy, where both defendants pleaded not guilty. They were each granted bail in the sum of $50,000 and the case was adjourned to May 14, 2026.
