Big Smith News Watch Reports : Several persons were injured on Monday following a serious head-on collision along the West Bank Demerara public road at La Grange, involving a bus operated by Sheriff Security and a motorcar.
The bus, which was transporting security officers, overturned following the impact. Eyewitness accounts allege that the vehicle was travelling at high speed and veered into the path of the oncoming car. The driver of the car reportedly attempted to avoid the collision by bringing the vehicle to a stop, but was unable to prevent the impact.
The collision left multiple persons lying motionless on the roadway as emergency response efforts were initiated. Several injured individuals were subsequently transported to hospital for medical treatment.
In a statement, Sheriff Security confirmed that its officers involved in the crash are in stable condition and receiving medical care. The company said it is cooperating fully with authorities as investigations continue, and noted that preliminary information suggests the collision may have been caused by another vehicle impeding the bus’s lane.
