Authorities in Regional Division number 2 are conducting a thorough investigation into a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon, claiming the life of Satesh Persaud, a 45-year-old construction worker and well-known member of the Reliance Sports Club.

The collision took place at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the Reliance Public Road. According to police reports, Persaud was operating his motorcycle (CM 2631) and attempting to cross the main road to reach an access street on the eastern side. It is alleged that he moved into the path of a motor car (PAM 8929), driven by a 46-year-old resident of Coffee Grove, resulting in a direct collision.
Persaud was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered severe head trauma upon impact. While public-spirited citizens promptly rushed him to the Lima Regional Hospital, he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician. His body has since been transported to the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Following the accident, the 46-year-old driver of the motor car was subjected to a breathalyzer test. The test revealed a reading of 48 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, which is above the legal limit.
The driver remains in police custody and is assisting investigators as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
