Ezekiel Lewis, a 26-year-old shopkeeper from Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison after being convicted of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Lewis, also known as “Bell,” was arrested on October 8, 2025. Following his arrest, he was charged under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
When he first appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed on October 10, 2025, Lewis entered a plea of not guilty, leading to a full trial.
Following the conclusion of the trial on Tuesday, the Bartica Magistrate’s Court found Lewis guilty of the offense. He was subsequently sentenced to three years and five months in prison.
